Oudai is responsible for the overall day-to-day management, ensuring that the association is delivering its objectives and achieving its vision.
He has an MSc in Human Resources Management from Syria and an MSc in International Business and Entrepreneurship from the University of Glasgow. Oudai has over 10 years of experience in project management, campaigning and influencing, networks building and students’ support, and organisational development. He worked previously for a multinational bank as well as international NGOs, such as Oxfam and UNESCO. He is a Chevening Alumni, UNESCO Ambassador and a member of the Steering Group for the UK Universities of Sanctuary (a group of 12 UK universities committed to support refugees’ education in the UK).
Oudai’s ultimate goal is to see Syria a country with high-quality and inclusive education system, where everyone enjoys equal opportunities, especially internally displaced persons, women, and people with disabilities. To do so, he connects Syrians all over the world to harness and transfer their knowledge and intellectual capital to develop the education system in Syria and support Syrian students all over the world, with focus on refugees.
Head of Knowledge Hub
Wadoud joined the Syrian Association in late 2018 as the Knowledge Hub team Leader to support students choose their specialization and develop their academic knowledge.
Wadood is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Cambridge with a fully-funded scholarship from EPSRC CDT to study Sensor Technologies for a Healthy and Sustainable Future. He graduated from Al-Baath University in Syria in 2014 with a BSc. In Computers and Automatic Control Engineering with the highest GPA in his department. As a result, he was awarded the Said Foundation Scholarship 2017 to study MSc. In Electrical and Electronics Engineering where he graduated with distinction from the University of Glasgow in the UK in 2018. In addition, he worked as a teaching assistant in both of Al-Baath University and the University of Glasgow. He has several voluntary works in the education domain with different organizations including the UNICEF program in Syria. In the professional domain, Wadoud has a strong experience in the industrial domain, and he worked as manager of the electronic and electrical department in “Al Marbaie” Group in Saudi Arabia for more than two years.
Amer El Abssi
Head of Programmes & Services
Amer is an education advocate with more than two-year experience in advising and mentoring students aiming at pursuing their higher education in the UK.
Amer is a winner of Chevening scholarships award, the cohort of 2018/2019. His journey with education has three millstones, in 2014 Amer obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy and pharmaceutical chemistry from Damascus University. In 2017, Amer completed an executive Master of Business Administration and graduated from the Higher Institute of Business Administration (HIBA) in Damascus specialised in operation management. After winning Chevening scholarships award, he completed a Master of Science degree in drug discovery and pharma management at University College London (UCL) in 2019.
Amer has a professional career of more than 3 years in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries particularly in the quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and organisational development.
On the voluntary level, Amer served at the Syrian Arab Red Crescent Damascus Branch as a first aid provider then as a first aid team leader between 2012-2015 and he recently joined the British Red Cross in the UK.
On the personal level, Amer is a strong believer in the long-lasting and powerful influence that education can achieve in the prosperity of nations and Syria is no exception. Amer worked tirelessly among an impassioned and persevering team of Syrian figures to plant the foundation seeds of the ISAED and build the core concept of this International developmental body and he will be honoured serving the cause of the association through his position. Amer sees ISAED as a Syrian human capital intelligence incubator which will connect and support Syrian education-seekers all over the world to achieve their personal goals and the ultimate goals of the association in empowering a well-educated generation to build future Syria.
Head of Media & Communication
Head of Countries Network
Ali joined the Syrian Association since its founding in late 2018 as the Countries Network Team Leader supervising four country teams.
A Chevening alumnus recently studied MSc in Building Information Modelling and Management at Oxford Brookes University. Ali is a graduate of Civil Engineering faculty at Tishreen University holding a Bachelor of Construction Engineering and Management. Ali is also pursuing part time studies at Oxford University at the continuous learning center and also in the open learning path at Tishreen University.
In addition to his engineering career, he has always been involved in community development work in Syria as a volunteer, board member, founding member and facilitator in different organizations and initiatives.
He is currently seeking further studies and career in both academia and development.
Head of IT
Waleed joined the Syrian Association in 2019 as the head of the Website Management team and a member of Sweden team.
He completed his BSc in Computer Engineering in 2011 at the International University for Science and Technology in Damascus. He also received a scholarship from the Swedish Institute in 2017 and successfully completed an MSc in Software Engineering at the Blekinge Institute of Technology.
Waleed has professional experience in computer networking, project management, and software development, and he aims to be an influencer in software engineering and in society.
Head of HR
Jawdat is one of the Founding Members of the Syrian Association and the Recruitment Team Leader.
Jawdat joined the Syrian Association since its inception in November 2018. He recruited volunteers as part of his work with the Human Resources team. He played a key role in attracting the best talents to the association and directly contributed to the planning phase.
He has a bachelor’s in Dentistry from Damascus University and is now studying for a master’s in Medical Education at the Syrian Virtual University.
Jawdat is the chairman of “Quloubuna Maakom” (Our Hearts with You) initiative, which provides free medical assistance to low-income, displaced and disabled people. He founded a number of medical research initiatives, including the Spot Dent and We Research teams, which trained over 500 people in healthcare research. He also organized more than four international conferences on scientific research and has written a book in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and King’s College London.

IT Services & Help Desk Manager
Muhammad joined the Syrian Association in July 2019 as the head of the Information Technology team.
He has a bachelor’s in information technology from the Syrian Virtual University. He is currently a highly competent systems administrator with more than five years of experience in business and humanitarian fields.
Muhammad is passionate about network systems and cloud computing technologies. He also organized scholarship events, such as Focus On Chevening and Study Abroad.
Sweden Team Leader
Firas joined the Syrian Association in March 2019 and established Sweden Team.
Firas Almaari has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Damascus University/MSc in Structural Engineering and Timber Based Structures from Linnaeus University (Sweden) and was awarded Said Foundation and The Swedish Institute Scholarships. Firas has worked as a site engineer and a design engineer in Syria and now he is working in a real state company in Sweden.
Firas Joined the Syrian Association in March 2019 as a recruiter and a team leader for the Swedish team. Using his network which he built while living in Sweden, Firas managed to recruit several Syrian Scholars as volunteers within the Swedish Team.
Japan Team Leader
Thuraya joined the Syrian Association since its establishment in December of 2018 as a team leader for the Japan team. He contributed to the recruitment of new members in the Association and to create and manage the Syrian Association work in Japan. Thuraya graduated from the mechanical university in Aleppo with a specialization in Airo Engineering, afterwards, he received the Japanese Governmental Scholarship. He has now a Master’s of engineering in Fluid Mechanics and Numerical Methods from the University of Nagoya in Japan, he continues to study there also specializing in Renewable energies (design and analysis of horizontal wind turbines) in addition to his work wind turbines company (Chellenergy). He aspires to help Syria in establishing and running renewable energy projects.

Sweden Team, IT Team
Adnan joined the Syrian Association in July 2019 as part of Sweden Team and the IT Team. In 2014, he was awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Networking and Operating Systems from Arab International University, Syria. In 2017, he received a scholarship from the Swedish Institute (SI) to study Masters in Software Engineering of Distributed Systems. He has experience in mobile app development ( Android, iOS) for three years, and worked as a freelance with many Syrian companies.

Abdullah joined the Syrian Association from the earliest days of its establishment in late 2018 as a volunteer in the Scholarship team to help Syrian students acquire scholarships all over the world. He joined because he strongly believes in the equality of education and knowledge sharing. Abdullah worked in multiple roles as a teacher at Damascus University, an architect in multiple projects such as the reconstruction of justice palace in Alhaffa, Syria, and a volunteer in Syrian Researchers. His passion for sustainability, in its all forms, led him to be rewarded Chevening Scholarships for young leaders from the FCO to pursue his postgraduate degree in sustainable development in the best university in the world in development studies.
Abd Alsattar Ardati
Abd Alsattar Ardati joined the Association in December 2018. He graduated from the Computer Engineering department of the Arab Academy (AASTMT) and finished an MSc in Management and Technology Science at the University of St Andrews in the United Kingdom. Abd Alsattar is currently conducting a PhD research in Computer Science at St Andrews University. In parallel with scientific research, Abd Alsattar has been working since 2016 to establish a social enterprise equipped with cutting-edge technology and based on sound scientific research to support students of developing countries. Abd Alsattar seeks to create an integral relationship between the Association and his future social entrepreneurial venture.

Alaa Al Hamwi
Market Analysis Team
Alaa joined the Syrian Association in April 2019 as a member of the Strategic Management Team. She is responsible for studying and analyzing the education market.
Alaa graduated from Damascus University, Department of Information Technology Engineering, with a bachelor’s in Software Engineering and Information Systems. She works as a graduate teaching assistant, in addition to her job as a mobile application developer. She also participated in several initiatives and events in the fields of education and technology.
She aspires to improve the higher education system in Syrian universities.
Social Media Team
Alaa joined the Syrian association in September 2019 to work with the social media team.
She has a bachelor’s degree in media and journalism from Damascus University, in addition to a diploma in documentary filmmaking. She also completed a journalism course delivered by the BBC. She lives in Mersin, Turkey and works as a social media specialist at an export and import company.
Alaa joined many volunteer initiatives, the last of which was the Syrian Researchers, where she worked with the Twitter and outreach teams. She also founded the Pen & Paper Facebook page to guide students in their application for scholarships.
She is interested in the field of education, in general, and in scholarships, in specific. She aspires to pursue a master’s degree and a PhD in New Media.
Video Editing Team
Alia joined the Syrian association in February 2019 to work with the video editing team.
Alia graduated from Damascus University, Faculty of Architecture and she is currently pursuing a master’s in regional urban structural planning at the Higher Institute of Regional Planning at Damascus University. She has three years of experience in working as a freelancer in the field of design, video editing and animation (Motion Graphics).
She is passionate about photography, videography and short film making and aspires to become an international photographer and filmmaker to promote great values and peace.
Sweden Team, IT Team
Anas joined the Syrian Association in July 2019 so he can be a part of the association’s team in Sweden and work on several projects that aim at supporting Syrian students. Anas has a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Engineering from Damascus University and a Master’s degree in Network Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Anas works as an IT consultant and has experience in cloud computing and data engineering. Anas’s belief in the importance of education and its core role for prosperous and peaceful societies motivated him to take part in this association. Apart from technologies, Anas is interested in Social Psychology and the direct effects it has on an individual’s wellbeing and his/her understandings on matters that societies have suffered from like racial discrimination based on race, religion, and sect.
Atef joined the Syrian Association in July 2019 to be part of Sweden Team, which helps students study in Sweden.
Atef has graduated from Damascus University with a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication and Electronics engineering, he also has a master’s degree in Wireless Communication Systems from Lund University in Sweden.
Atef worked as a transmission planning engineer in MTN Syria and currently, he is working as a 4g/5g software developer in Ericsson Lund. Atef’s goal is to represent the wireless communications field in a practical way.
Areej joined the Syrian Association since its inception, end of 2018, to mentor Syrian students wishing to receive scholarships. Areej graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London with a MA in Television Journalism, after receiving a Chevening Scholarship in 2015. Before that she held a BSc in Management from the Higher Institute of Business Administration in Damascus. She currently works for BBC Arabic in Lebanon as a TV presenter and producer, and has five years of experience in the field. She started in Syria in 2013 then moved to Lebanon after graduating. Areej also worked in the business management & marketing fields in Syria for 8 years. Areej holds a Guinness World Record for “the longest marathon television talk show (team)”, in which she presented a special programme titled “From Syria with Love” on Talaqie Channel for 70 hours 5 minutes, back in 2014.
UK Team, Scholarships Team
Ayham joined the Syrian Association in December 2018 as part of the UK and scholarship teams, which are teams to support students to study in the UK and acquire scholarships. Ayham holds BSc. in Software Engineering from Damascus University and MSc. in Financial Systems Engineering from University College London. He has more than 8 years of experience in different sectors and recently focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the banking sector. Ayham believes in the crucial role that education plays in thriving the Syrian community.
Baraa has joined the Syrian Association in Sep 2019 to support Syrian students in Japan.
Baraa Aldatkazanky graduated from the Lebanese International University in Beirut in the field of business administration and then continued his education in Japan after receiving the JISR scholarship from JICA organization to study an MBA in Management and Marketing at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University. During his time in Lebanon, he did some training and volunteer work through which he gained experience in accounting and sales. In Japan, during his studies, he conducted a half-year internship with one of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturers in the world “MFTBC” under the management of “Daimler Trucks Asia”. Baraa aspires to work with one of the major recruitment companies in the world after graduating. His dream is to see the name of Syria raised and prove to the world that the Syrian deserves all appreciation and confidence.
Bassam joined the Syrian Association in June 2019 as a volunteer with the Sweden team.
He has a bachelor’s degree from Damascus University in automation and control engineering. After graduation, he worked for a year and a half with the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) at the Data and IT department. In 2017, he received a scholarship from the Swedish Institute (SI) and enrolled in a master’s program in Automation and Robotics. In 2019, he received the Global Swedish Award.
Bassam currently works at University West in Sweden as a laboratory assistant. He always valued education and wanted to pursue a career in academia.
Bassel Al Madani
Bassel joined the Syrian Association since its creation in late 2018 to help the Association design its services to support SDGs.
Bassel is a civil engineer and social entrepreneur. He has worked with several UN organizations on youth programs, especially sustainable development, and entrepreneurship programs and has participated in organizing international events in Damascus. Bassel has more than 6 years’ experience in volunteering and community work and was chosen by MBC Al-Amal as ambassador to Syria in 2018. He is the founder and CEO of the EntrePioneers 2030 platform that highlights young Syrian entrepreneurs who are working to achieve the SDGs in Syria. Bassel and his team EntrePioneers 2030 won the largest competition in the Arab region in the field of SDGs data (Visualize 2030), achieving the second-place as representatives of Syria.
Bassel aspires to pursue a Master’s degree at a British university in the field of sustainable development because of his passion and experience.

Eyad joined the Syrian Association since its creation in early 2019 as a part of the Knowledge Hub team that helps students to choose their specialization and promote their academic knowledge. Eyad is a Software Engineer graduated from Yarmouk Private University, currently studying MSc Data Science at the University of Southampton. He worked for the United Nations Population Fund as a Data Analyst Assistant for almost 3 years. In parallel to his work, he was part of establishing and organizing several local initiatives and events that focused on supporting Syrian youth. Passionate about analyzing companies’ data, especially social ones, to assist them in making better decisions. Interested in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Data Visualizations, and Analytics.
Programmes & Services Teams
Feras joined the Syrian Association at the beginning of 2019 to be part of the United Kingdom team and to help students to study in the UK. As a final year student of BSc (Hons) Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Nottingham, he has a results-oriented and professional mentality, strong interpersonal skills and a persistent work ethic. He’s always seeking opportunities to better himself as an individual and professional. Aside from his degree, he is working as a software engineer at Coriel ltd. Also, he is part of the IT team support at the university.
In his second year, he was awarded the Best Project award at his university, his project was a solution for environmental problems using IoT (Internet of Things) technology. His passion is to pursue a career in Data Science and Machine Learning.
Farah joined the Syrian Association in April 2019 to manage the Visual Identity and Content team. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Damascus University. Farah has worked as a freelance graphic designer for the past 4 years, mainly in visual identities, branding, and social media. She has been a part of many initiatives that support education and empower young individuals. Farah aspires to continue her higher education in illustration, poster design, and semiotics.

Fida joined the Syrian Association in early 2019 as a volunteer in the Partnership team.
She is an economics graduate from Tishreen University in Syria, and is currently a researcher at SWDTP and a Chevening Alumna. She also has extensive experience in commercial banking. She is also pursuing a new goal in her life, which is to become an academic and researcher in the field of development studies.
She believes that scientific research is the mainstay of informed and insightful policies aimed at promoting human development and reducing inequality, especially for marginalized groups.
Ghalia joined the Syrian Association in December 2018 as a member of the Human Capital team.
She graduated from the Lebanese American University with distinction. She completed a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and currently works in the Pharmaceutical industry in Damascus, Syria.
Ghalia participated in many voluntary activities in both Lebanon and Damascus. She also organized many student activities and joined several initiatives at the university. One of her most important participations is with the Lebanese Pharmacy Students’ Association, which allowed her to be part of many activities, such as helping people quit smoking, first aid training, early detection of breast cancer, and mobile clinics for distributing drugs to people in need.
Ghalia is also a professional swimmer and represented her university in many competitions in Lebanon and abroad. She also graduated from Sulhi Al-Wadi Music Institute as a pianist.
Mohammad joined the Syrian Association in September 2019 as a volunteer with Japan’s team.
He defines himself as a person who does not give up on challenges that encounter him. He hoped to become an engineer and had several difficulties to grow up toward this point. Now, he works at a Japanese company with a team to produce novel technologies to make our world a better environment using his experience and knowledge on how to solve technical programming problems with a strong desire and personality. He has majored in information systems science and graduated from Soka University in Japan.
Ghani joined the Syrian Association in January 2019. He is currently a member of the United Kingdom team to support Syrian students in the UK. Ghani is a passionate Lawyer, he studied a Master of Science in International Development (conflict, security and development) and graduated with Merit. In 2012 Ghani became a member in Damascus Bar Association, he practiced commercial law in his office in Damascus. Ghani is also a civil activist and an active member with several institutions as an advocate for Peace building, Sustainable Development and Gender Equality. Ghani has a strong experience in volunteer and legal advocacy. Ghani participated in several workshops with UN, Red Cross and Jimmy Carter Center. Ghani was a member of JCI Damascus until he was awarded the Said foundation scholarship to continue his postgraduate study in the UK 2017/2018.
UK Team Member
Hazem joined the Syrian Association in February 2019 as a volunteer in the Association’s UK team to help students study in the UK. Hazem holds a Higher Diploma from West College Scotland and is currently studying computer science at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Hazem assists Syrian students in the UK by coordinating the work of a student group for Syrian students in the UK. Aspiring to study a Masters in Software Engineering.
Hozaifa joined the Syrian Association in early 2019 as part of a Scholarships team, the team that helps Syrian students acquire scholarships all over the world. Hozaifa has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Umm Al-Qura University in Saudi Arabia and a Diploma in Executive Business Administration from Asia Electronic University. Currently, Hozaifa is studying Master’s in Engineering Management (Construction specialization at the University of Debrecen in Hungary. He has two years’ experience in Surveying Engineering and Contracting works. Hozaifa was a co-author of “Discover Civil Engineering” as part of “First Initiative Projects 2030 & Discover Project” in Saudi Arabia Hozifa aspires to study the Ph.D. in construction management
Huda joined the Syrian Association in July 2019 as a volunteer in Sweden’s team to support Syrian Student in Sweden.
Huda graduated with a bachelor’s degree in interior design from IUST in Damascus and received a master’s degree in Architecture: Design and Planning Beyond Sustainability from Chalmers University in Sweden. She has more than three years of professional experience in addition to one year as a university teaching assistant.
Huda is a member of a local organization in Sweden where she volunteers in designing houses for elderly and newcomers and assists in the building process. She is interested in the relation between design and human psychology and has experience conducting related research and design. Her passion is to create healthy environments for people and the planet.
Media & Communications
Judy joined the association in February 2019 as a leader for the Social Media team.
She holds two degrees, one in economics, business administration and the other in media from Damascus University in addition to a master’s degree in marketing within the field of consumer behavior and personalities.
She is currently the Head of Public Relations and Marketing at Dummar Medical Center and has nine years of professional experience in a number of jobs, most notably her Director of Marketing at the Utopians Initiative for Teaching English to Syrians in addition to her current work as a founder of Career Souq to create a community interested in helping others in the field of Self Development and Career Development
Judy began her volunteer career since 2009. She also held the position of an official in the quality and research department within a global electronic games company. In the meantime, she received a training certificate in the field of electronic media and social media journalism under the supervision of BBC and Syria news.
She has a great passion for marketing and especially social change marketing as she has a good inventory of health and social awareness campaigns
Academic Knowledge Team, Japan Team
Jalal joined the Syrian Association in early 2019, as a member of the Japan team and Knowledge Hub team. Jalal holds a BSc. in Pharmacy from Albaath university, a MSc. in Microbiology and Immunology from Damascus University, a Diploma Course on Research & Development of Products to Meet Public Health Needs from Nagasaki University, Japan, and he is currently a Ph.D. Student in Nagaski university, graduate school of biomedical science. Jalal has research expertise in (vaccine development, leishmaniasis, miRNA, exosomes, Flow cytometry, RNA-seq), in addition to 5 years working experience in a health insurance company, as a quality assurance officer, an internship at the World Health Organization and a training course in establishing universal health coverage UHC. Jalal has knowledge in the domain of data analysis and programming language (R statics, Python, STATA). Jalal aims to participate in promoting global health and disease control in developing countries through his current participation in developing the new leishmania vaccine product.
Khair Al Deen Mufti
Academic Knowledge Team
Khair has joined the association on April 2019 as part of the knowledge hub team to help students choose their specialization and promote their academic knowledge. Khair has obtained his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Aleppo University on 2016 and he is currently pursuing his graduate studies in Human Genetics at McGill University after receiving a full scholarship from Abdulla Al-Ghurair Foundation for Education. Khair has worked as a Community Pharmacist in the United Arab Emirates before he moved to Canada where he is currently working as graduate researcher in Neurogenetics at the Montreal Neurological Institute. Khair’s volunteering experiences include working with UAE red crescent and founding “Pharma Time” magazine with a team of other students during his undergraduate, and he is now part of a global development organization called the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) which aims to empower education and opportunities for youth, women and refugees. Khair is very passionate about pharmacology and gene therapy, and he eventually aspires to pursue his PhD in Molecular Genetics and to dedicate more time for supporting education in Syria and the Arab region. Lina joined the Syrian Association in April 2019, as a part of the Scholarships team to help students get scholarships around the world. Lina graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishreen University in 2016, and she is currently studying a Master’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biotherapies at Paris Descartes University. Lina worked as a medical representative in a medical company in Lattakia, as an assistant pharmacist in a pharmacy, and then worked as a scientific translator for MEMBS – Middle East Molecular Biology Sources. Lina is currently part of Look in MENA online platform. Lina has a special interest in learning the English language. She aims to continue her Ph.D to be a researcher in her field of interest — Gene and Cancer Therapies — which was her passion since secondary school.
Editing and Translation Team
Leen joined the Syrian Association in early 2019 to work with the English Language and Translation team.
She graduated from Cleveland State University with distinction (cum laude) after completing her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. She is currently a senior recruitment specialist at Alexander Mann Solutions on behalf of Rolls-Royce. She also works in design, Arabic tutoring, and public speaking, in addition to volunteering with NGOs and local hospitals.
Leen is an avid reader with a passion and interest in human rights and social activism. She aspires to continue her education and pursue a master’s in Data Science while simultaneously focusing her volunteering efforts on making an impact to improve education quality and accessibility around the world.
Leen joined the Syrian Association in early 2019 as a part of the Scholarship team to help students in acquiring scholarships around the world. Leen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Damascus University and a Master’s degree in Water Management from Exeter University, UK. Leen has 8 years of experience in project management. Working with Oxfam GB in Damascus, Leen was the engineer team leader delivering water projects to support the local community in Syria. Leen was awarded the Best Woman in Business Development in Engineering and Construction in Europe from London, 2019. Leen’s main goal is to contribute in rebuilding Syria through education and infrastructure development.

Majed joined the Syrian Association in May 2019 to work with the corporate team.
He graduated from the International University for Science and Technology (IUST) in Syria in 2016.
He lives in Strasbourg, France to specialize in implantology and periodontics at the University of Strasbourg. He is a dentist and the founder and president of Bright Inventors, a French non-profit Association in Strasbourg.
Majed has a registered patent entitled “Alginate Impressions Preserver,” which has been awarded the IFIA Golden Medal for the best invention in Geneva, Switzerland in 2018, as well as the IDEA-EXPO 2019 Golden Medal at the Hungary exhibition of inventions.
Majed is a member of Médecins Du Monde France and a supervisor at its dental health program.
Marwa Khaled Daher
Marwa joined the Syrian Association in April 2019 as a volunteer with the United Kingdom team.
She is a second-year Journalism and Media student in Glasgow, and she aspires to work in this field as a journalist or as a writer. She hopes to encourage other students and help them improve their skills and work hard for a brighter future.

Marya joined the Syrian Association in January 2019 as a member of the English Language and Translation team.
She has a bachelor’s in Translation from Damascus University. She worked at the Syrian Business and Institutions Center (SEBC) in Syria and was a member of Al-Noqta Btifreq team, which operates in partnership with OXFAM. In addition, she participated in many community initiatives in Syria, including “Koni Al-Amal” for empowering women, “Plus” for empowering orphaned children, and “Sayyar” for the rehabilitation of children.
Marya is passionate about helping anyone with a desire to develop their abilities and improve their life.
Mayasa joined the Syrian Association in September 2019 as a mentor in the English Language team. Mayasa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Damascus University. She has studied several courses about public health remotely from HarvardX, because of her interest in that field. Mayassa has nearly 3 years of experience in health awareness, working on entrepreneurial projects, social initiatives, translation and English teaching.
Academic Knowledge, Scholarships Team,
Mesbah joined the Syrian Association as a part of the Knowledge Hub team to help students choose their specialization and promote their academic knowledge in the field of Physics. Mesbah received a BSc. of Physics from Alexandria University in 2018 with honors degree, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Cosmology at McGill University in Canada. Mesbah received several scholarships (including Chevening and Abdullah Al Ghurair) because of his academic excellence while studying physics, where he has found his passion in this domain after shifting between several former colleges (chemical and nuclear engineering). Mesbah’s main research interests are focused on studying the first few seconds of our universe in an effort to understand the origins of the universe and move a step forward in answering the most pressing and difficult questions since the dawn of humanity: “How did the universe begin ?!”. Mesbah has a great love of communicating the beauty and importance of physics and mathematics to the public, where he has presented and taught several workshops and lectures in this field. Mesbah joined the Association with the aim of helping the ambitious Syrian youth to pursue their education and seek their passion for science and developing Arab educational curricula by updating them to keep pace with the international curricula. Mesbah has many experiences in guiding people towards their passion and helping them change to the domains they love. Mohamad joined the association in July 2019 as a volunteer in Sweden team to help students in Sweden.
Mohamad graduated from the Faculty of Technical Engineering, Aleppo University in 2012 with a specialization in Biotechnology. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology from Lund University in Sweden. Mohamad worked as an engineer in research labs both in academia and industry where he participated in several research projects related to enzymology, cancer treatment and stem cell research.
Mohamad also has experience in business management and now he is working as a Market Intelligence Manager for a Pharmaceutical and Drug Development Company in Sweden, where he helps the company to grow its business globally.
Mohamad has a passion for sharing his experience and helping others reach their goals, especially with people with special needs. He is a board member of the Cultural Forum for People with Disabilities in Syria. He supports and participates in different projects aiming at helping people with disabilities and raising awareness about their rights in education, access and equity.
Mohamd joined the Syrian Association in July 2019 as part of Japan Team.
Mohamed has a track record of successful teaching and examining in Lebanon and Japan. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature, University of Aleppo, and a master’s degree in English Language Teaching, University of Balamand. Having completed a certificate in English language teaching to speakers of other languages (CELTA) from Cambridge University, Mohamed is currently a full-time ESL instructor at Osaka Prefecture Board of Education and Cambridge speaking examiner. Mohamed has presented at international conferences. He is also a member of the Japan Association for Language Teaching. He enjoys playing tennis and diving.
Mohammad joined the Syrian Association in July 2019 as a volunteer with the team in Sweden.
He has a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the International University for Science and Technology (IUST) in Syria and a master’s in Design and Construction Project Management from Chalmers University Sweden.
Mohammad has more than six years of experience in construction. He worked in Syria and Saudi Arabia, holding different positions as a structural engineer, site engineer, and tendering engineer. He now resides in Sweden and works as a purchasing engineer at a large Swedish construction company.
Mohammad is passionate about volunteering and social activities. He volunteered in Syria with several NGOs that organize recreational and sport activities for children and youth. He continued to volunteer in Sweden and became a board member then the president of a student association in Chalmers. In addition to his work with the Syrian Association, he works with local associations in Gothenburg that support the Arabic and Islamic community in the city and organize educational activities for youth.

Moulham joined the Syrian Association in February 2019, as a part of the Knowledge Hub team to help students choose their specialization and promote their academic knowledge in the field of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. Moulham graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy, the University of Damascus in 2014 and received the Chevening Scholarship in 2017 to study a Master of Advanced Pharmaceutical Manufacturing at Strathclyde University, and he is currently pursuing his Ph.D.
Moulham’s main domain of expertise is based on his specialization, in addition to modest experiences in various fields due to his volunteering for 5 years, such as project management, design, training, strategic planning, and human resources management. Moulham aims to a better society, so he will not hesitate to transfer his knowledge to others.
UK Team Member
Mohamed Annan joined the Syrian Association in April 2019 as the UK team leader to help students study in the UK. Mohammed graduated from the Arab European University, Department of Computer and Communications Engineering and has a Master of Engineering Management from Glaxo University. Mohammed Annan has 3 years of experience in the Kurdistan region of Iraq in the field of mobile networks in addition to his experience in the field of information security in Britain. Mohammed aspires to participate in events that benefit the Syrian society in general, and in the education sector in particular, and some of the things that Mohammed is interested in are music and learning about different cultures.
Nour joined the Syrian Association in August 2019, as a part of the scholarship team to help Syrian students to acquire scholarship around the world. Nour graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy – Damascus University in 2011 and enrolled in a master of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry in 2016. Nour Worked in a private pharmacy for five years. She has experience in Scientific Research Methods and lecturing at Damascus University for two years. Nour has been accepted in Erasmus + Exchange Programme to pursue a MSc. in Molecular Biotechnology at the University of L’Aquila in Italy. Nour has a volunteering experience in scientific research. Nour aspires to pursue Ph.D. and Postdoctoral in Biotechnology and work in universities and research centers.
Japan Team, Academic Knowledge Team
Ola joined the Syrian Association in Sep 2019 to support Syrian students in Japan.
She graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Engineering, and in 2017 she completed a Master degree from Damascus University in horticulture science specializing in Vegetable Crops Breeding. She is a top graduate student from Damascus University department of horticulture science and had worked there as a lecturer for 4 years. She completed the technical part of her Master’s degree at the biotechnology laboratory commission. She was awarded a MEXT scholarship to study in Japan and is now pursuing a Ph.D. at Okayama University in Plant Breeding and Genetics. She hopes to see poor countries benefit from what modern biotechnology has discovered.
Omar joined the Syrian association in July 2019 to work with the design team.
He is currently studying medicine at Damascus University.
He has one year of experience in design, two years in programming, and two years in teaching. He also has several programming and artificial intelligence certificates from Coursera platform.
Omar volunteered as a designer with the Red Blood Cells team and participated in the team’s fourth health awareness campaign. He also participated as a graphic designer in the fifth health awareness campaign.
Omar aspires to specialize in psychiatry and combine the fields of psychiatry and artificial intelligence in his studies.

Omar has joined the Syrian Association in January 2019 as a part of Scholarships and Knowledge Hub teams to help students get a scholarship and promote their academic knowledge in the scientific fields.
He has studied Biochemistry for 4 years in the Faculty of Science in Egypt ranking the first during his academic years.Omar has received a DAFI scholarship in Egypt and was accepted in the Hungarian scholarship for the academic year 2019.
He has worked in many medical analysis laboratories for 2 years. He has participated in many activities to help Syrians in Egypt, especially, students under the auspices of the Aram volunteering team. Omar is interested in Oncology research and has the desire to obtain MSc in Molecular Biology soon.
Scholarship Team Member
Razan Joined the Syrian Association in February 2019 as head of Scholarships team to help students get scholarships around the world. Razan holds a BSc. in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Tishreen University (Latakia –Syria), she is currently studying a MSc. in NanoMedicine (Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree, University Of Patras, Paris Descartes University, University Of Angers and University Of Pavia) after being accepted in Erasmus Mundus scholarship in NonoMedicine 2018-2020.
Razan has worked as a community pharmacist in a Pharmacy in Latakia, a Scientific translator and Marketing specialist in Middle East Molecular Biology Sources (MEMBS), in addition to her volunteering in many social and community initiatives that aim to support people with special needs ( Al-Amal Foundation for children with Down Syndrome) as well as being the head of content management team in Look in MENA platform (Especially the scholarships and MENA universities sections). Razan’s future goal is to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Gene Therapy and to work in an advanced research center in this field.
Rabea joined the Syrian Association in April 2019 as the Animation team Leader. He studies Medicine at Tanta University- Egypt, where he has volunteered in several awareness and scientific teams within the university. Rabea has worked as a freelancer for 4 years, which was the beginning of many accomplishments. He participated in television programs such as “Qomrah” by Ahmad Alshugairi, was a member of the International Organization of AIESEC in Egypt for one year, and a member of “My Doctor” initiative, where he has been fully responsible for the video section for two years. Rabea is passionate about video and visual content creation. He aspires to pass the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) and specialize in ophthalmology.
Rahaf Al Lymoni
Rahaf joined the Syrian Association in December 2019 as a member of the scholarships team for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Rahaf received her BSc. in business administration from the International University for Science and Technology (IUST) in 2014 with an honors degree. Rahaf has 4 years’ experience in the NGOs sector in the logistics and supply chain department. Rahaf is working to develop Syria’s national innovation systems (NIS) policy. This policy aims to create complex relationships between actors in the innovation system, consisting of research centers, institutions of the government sector, companies in the private sector and universities. Rahaf aspires for a Ph.D. in economics and innovation management.
Rasha joined the Association in October 2019 to help Syrian students achieve their academic dreams. Rasha is currently studying Bachelor of Architecture and Structural Engineering at Chalmers University in Sweden. She has participated in several volunteer work related to refugees and now she also works as a volunteer member in a student association affiliated to the student union at the university. Rasha aspires in the future to study master and doctorate in her field.
Academic Knowledge Team, UK Team
Reem has joined the Syrian Association in early 2019 as a volunteer in the UK team and Academic Knowledge team to support Syrians study in the UK and help them select their majors and develop their academic knowledge.
Reem studied and practiced architecture in Syria for more than fifteen years and she also worked as a member of the academic board at Damascus University for 4 years. She has an MSc. in “Architectural Project Management” and an MSc. in “Advanced Sustainable Design” from the University of Edinburgh. She has a specific interest in Sustainable Architecture and she is planning to study PhD. in Architecture. Reem joined the association in March 2019 and aims to share her knowledge and experience with the Syrian students.
Safa joined the Syrian Association in May 2019 as a volunteer in the Association’s UK team to help students study in the UK.
She has a Bachelor’s in Biotechnology / Molecular Biochemistry from Cairo University in Egypt, MA in Biotechnology from Edinburgh University, Scotland.
Safa graduated from Cairo University in Egypt with a BSc in Biotechnology / Biomolecular Chemistry. She continued studying biotechnology at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, earning her master’s degree in 2018. Safa has a great passion in this field besides her interest in programming and bioinformatics. Safa aspires to study for a Ph.D. in this field and pursue work in scientific research.
Suzan has joined the Syrian Association in July of 2019 to be part of the Japan team, which helps students study in Japan.
Suzan has graduated from Aleppo University, in the English translation faculty. Suzan is currently studying at a Japanese language school. Suzan has 9 years of experience in the field of translation, 3 years and a half in the Humanitarian and NGO sector, and 3 years in the human resource field. Suzan has joined in many volunteering activities in the field of education and humanitarian response, and support Syrians in Japan. Suzan aspires to gain a Master’s degree in peace studies and works to support SDGs.
Safa Al Sadat
Social Media Team
Tarek joined the Syrian Association in December 2019 as a member of the Social Media Team.
He graduated from the American University of Sharjah with a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, and he now works as a highway engineer in Dubai, UAE. He also participated in many voluntary initiatives in Damascus as well as student activities and initiatives while in university.
Tarek aspires to pursue a master’s in Artificial Intelligence Engineering.
